Feature Request

Hi there,

First of all, a huge kudos and heartfelt thanks to everyone behind this beautiful application. It truly feels like the need of the hour, and I am really happy to see such active development and how mature the product is becoming.

I have a small feature request regarding the Languages → Spelling section. At the moment, we can add spellings manually, which is great, but it would be even more powerful if this could be linked to voice training. For example, if you would let the user first speak a word and then associate that recording with a specific spelling. I’m not sure how feasible this would be technically, but if it’s possible, I wanted to share the idea.

    This is a great idea, but it's almost impossible to implement, unfortunately.

      Hey, thanks for the update. In which case can i propose an alternative?

      Rather than just defining spellings, can we also set a clear preference? For example I have a colleague Shaun, who features constantly in my dictations, but is always transcribed as ‘Sean’. Similarly our work CRM Karbon is always transcribed as Carbon. So if i can define the preference that Shaun » Sean, and Karbon » Carbon, that will be great! This was actually the reason i originally suggested the voice training, but such an option will do instead!!

        You can create a custom mode for that

        1. Open BlabbyAI (Windows app).

        2. Double Click the tray icon (bottom-right).

        3. Go to Modes.

        4. Click Create Mode.

        5. Give it a name like “Preferred Names”.

        6. Paste this into the instruction box:

        When I dictate, please apply the following spelling preferences:

People:

If I mention my colleague and it sounds like “Sean”, write it as Shaun.
Sean → Shaun

Tools / Software:

If I mention our CRM and it sounds like “Carbon”, write it as Karbon.
Carbon → Karbon

Always choose my preferred spelling when the word matches the context of people or software I use. If you’re unsure, prefer the custom spelling.

        Click Save and start using that mode when you dictate.


        I tested the mode using different versions of “Carbon” and added “Sean” to check the name preference.
        Here’s the corrected output the mode produced:

        • “So I was playing this game, Need for Speed: Carbon. It was great.”

        • “By the way, we need to make sure we report that in Karbon.”

        • “I was talking to Shaun earlier.”

        The CRM name was handled correctly, any “Carbon” in a work-related context consistently became Karbon.

        The name also worked, Sean always turned into Shaun.
        Just a heads-up: the AI can’t really tell which person you mean, so it will probably always choose your preferred spelling by default.

        You can try to play with the mode instructions to see if you can make it better.

          Actually, that was a good suggestion. I had all these names already added in the spelling section and was still frustrated that it was not working. But as you said, explicitly mentioning these names in the Mode instructions seems to be working. That solves the problem—simple and effective.
