Can't handle pauses

Feature Request

I find that if I hold down the shortcut and maybe don't start to talk immediately or maybe pause after starting, it goofs it up and I get gibberish. I also have Wispr Flow and I don't experience anything like that with it, so it seems like something should be able to be done.

    Quick update: We’re adding a silence cutter. I found a way to do it without adding any transcription delay, and we’re going to implement it in the next version of Blabby. 🎉

    What’s likely happening is that WhisperFlow applies some audio pre-processing, like trimming silence, which makes pauses more forgiving but also adds a bit of latency. We prioritizes speed, so we currently stream audio more directly, and that can make long pauses or delayed starts less reliable.

    It’s a known trade-off, and you’re right that something can be improved here.

    To help me understand the impact on your day-to-day use: does this happen pretty often for you, or only once in a while?

    And how annoying is it when it happens? Is it something that regularly breaks your flow, or more of an occasional hiccup?

      It most often happens when I push down the shortcut keys but then don't start talking right away because I'm thinking.

      Sometimes it happens if I have already dictated and then pause to think some more before adding more dictation.

      Once it happens, it sort of does gibberish the next time I try to dictate. So it is frustrating that I can't start dictating again. It's almost like I have to wait a while.

      It doesn't happen that often, I have to make sure that I'm talking when I have the buttons pushed down.

        That actually sounds very similar to something I ran into myself.

        In my case, the app was configured to use a secondary microphone that sits a bit farther away, which caused the transcription to come out as gibberish or behave unreliably. Switching to the correct microphone fixed it immediately.

        Could you double-check the microphone settings in the app and make sure the selected mic is the one you actually want to use?

          That is a good thought, but I only have one microphone.

          I tried to replicate it by pausing after I push down the buttons or pausing after I'm done talking and I could not get it to do it again.
